2024 Election Information

Candidate Information:

The Missouri Libertarian Party is actively seeking Candidates for Federal, State and Local office.  If you are interested in running as a Libertarian Candidate, please contact our State Chair, Dustin Coffell (chair at lpmo dot org), for further information.

Candidates for Local or Committee Person positions must file with their City or County Election Board.  Check with your Election Board to determine if there will be a filing fee.  Declaring for either will place your name on the August Primary Libertarian Party ballot.  The August primary election determines the winner for the political party committee positions. They will become voting members of their City or County Missouri Libertarian Party affiliate or are in a position to create a new Central Committee by electing Officers and petitioning the MoLP to become an affiliate to the State Party.  Candidates for local positions (mayor, county clerk, for example) will proceed to the November General Election ballot and compete against the other Political Parties.

Candidates for State and Federal offices must file with the office of the Secretary of State in Jefferson City.  Filing Fees are paid to the Candidate’s Political Party (MoLP), and a paid receipt from the Party is required by the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State will also require a Form 5120 for State Candidates.  This form verifies that all your taxes have been paid, and it can be filled out and notarized at the Department of Revenue.  A photo ID is also required when filing.  Winners for Political Offices in the August Primary Election will then proceed to the November General Election ballot to complete against other Political Parties.

Filing for all positions opens February 27, 2024 and ends on March 26, 2024.
